A FLOWER FIELD IN THE WOODS

"[…]not knowing if this relationship will get through it. And if it gets through it, what have you lost and what have you gained in the end?"

The last couple of weeks were pretty crazy in a positive way. Somehow getting life back after a two year break. When Covid hit the world not only work was standing still, also privat activities – seeing friends and family, casual and easy gatherings, hobbies – were simply non-existent. And now getting all of it back, all this normality is quite overwhelming and at first I needed some time to get used to it again. Looking back at the last couple of weeks of normality, I have a smile on my face and tears in my eyes, because I waited so long for this gasp of relief. I remember the days of social distancing, the crying of loneliness and this fear that it will never be like before. Very thankful and a bit unbelieving that it‘s (almost) like pre-Covid. I‘m filled up with happiness and I enjoy life so much! Traveling around, meeting more friends than ever and seeing work not as first priority – but now the people around me! – is probably my number one learning after two years of Covid.

This story is very relatable for many many couples out there. Covid broke them or made them even closer. Very rarely I was allowed to see couples and photograph them during the pandemic, but when I met them it was part of the shoot to ask them how they are going and if everything is alright for them as individual and as a couple during this difficult time. Hearing their stories was from time to time very emotional and also sad, from loosing jobs to loosing faith or not knowing if this relationship will get through it. And if it gets through it, what have you lost and what have you gained in the end?

The following couple shoot of H & D was one of the covid-time-shoots during summer, when we all thought that we made it through Covid, not knowing that the future held different virus-variations and more lockdowns for us. I love how the light falling through the trees make the photos look so carefree. How a bottle of wine and loving looks make us forget some rough months. Thank you H & D for your trust!
